From Spinning Sound, June 1998. Autoscore: Program Overview By Joey Ragona Have you ever sung a tune in your head only wishing that you could quickly capture that exact melody in a MIDI file? Are you a bit shy on the keyboards when it comes to notation? Then Autoscore is definitely for you. By playing a solo instrument through the program, Autoscore will translate it into a standard MIDI file for you. Basically, you sing and Autoscore does the rest. Autoscore also comes fully packaged with Cakewalk Home Studio and integrates as a MIDI input device for many well known sequencers such as Cubase VST 3.55. Even if your sequencer does not allow Autoscore to integrate directly, you can save the standard MIDI file using the supplied Cakewalk and use it in your favourite sequencer if Cakewalk is not your choice. Just by using the input menu in Cakewalk, you just input sound into the supplied mic (you can also replace the mic with one of your choice) and the sequencer records the MIDI data. Autoscore's pitch recognition system is fantastic, by utilizing one of the three tracking recognition modes, you can get an exact duplication of your singing in a MIDI file no matter how out of tune you are. Autoscore is for anyone that wants to make music from beginner to professional musicians. The input works extremely well allowing for mistracks with the software's customization, but if you do get mistracks, AutoScore also provides a way to capture the audio from the input and save is directly as an audio file on your hard drive. |
